• Dr. S. Cem Bahadir received his B.Sc. degree from Istanbul Technical University, Department of Industrial Engineering in 1999, M.Sc. in Engineering Management from Marmara University, Department of Industrial Engineering in 2002, and Ph.D. in Business Administration Ð Marketing from Emory University in 2007. Prior to his academic career, Cem worked as an analyst in strategic management projects at the corporate headquarters of a leading business group in Istanbul, Turkey. After completing his Ph.D. at Emory University, Dr.Bahadir worked as assistant professor of marketing at the University of South Carolina, Darla Moore School of Business and then at Ozyegin University where he taught principles of marketing, marketing management, and product and brand management courses at undergraduate graduate, and executive education programs. During his tenure at Ozyegin University, one of the leading private research universities in Turkey, Dr. Bahadir designed the curriculum of a ÒMarketing AcademyÓ established by a global glass manufacturer. Dr.BahadirÕs research focuses on strategic brand management, brand value, and global brand management. His research is published in journals such as Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, International Journal of Research in Marketing, and Journal of International Business Studies. He also authored a chapter on the value of brands in mergers and acquisitions in the book entitled ÒFuture of BrandingÓ. Dr. BahadirÕs article ÒMarketing an IPO Issuer in Early Stages of the IPO ProcessÓ (co-authored with Jade S. DeKinder, and Ajay K. Kohli) is selected as one of the finalists for the 2015 JAMS Sheth Foundation Best Paper Award. During his tenure at Ozyegin University, Dr. BahadirÕs project on the value of customer relationships in mergers and acquisitions received research grant from The Scientific and Research Council of Turkey. Also, he was selected for a scholarship program which supports productive researchers returning to Turkey. More recently, in 2017, his project titled ÒThe Impact of Mergers and Acquisitions on Customer SatisfactionÓ (co-authored with Nita Umashankar and Sundar Bharadwaj) was awarded a Research Accelerator Grant by Marketing Science Institute. On the teaching front, in 2012, based on the course he taught in the Professional MBA program, he received the ÔOutstanding Elective ProfessorÕ award. Dr. Bahadir enjoys spending time with his family. He likes swimming and reading novels, and going to concerts. Fun fact: I did not know how to drive until I was 23 years old because driving in Istanbul traffic did not look much fun. I had to learn how to drive as part of my job in the corporate world. I was dating my wife Berrak then. She taught me how to drive and she was the first person with whom I experienced crazy Istanbul traffic as a driver.
