biography

  • Dr. Armando Barreto was born in Mexico City, Mexico, August 1963. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical-Mechanical Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM ), in 1987. He obtained the M.S.E.E. Degree from Florida International University in August 1989 and the Ph.D. In Electrical Engineering from University of Florida , Gainesville, in May 1993. Then he spent one more year in Gainesville as a Post-Doctoral Associate with the Computational NeuroEngineering Laboratory ( CNEL) / UF Brain Institute. Through his Ph. D. and Post-Doc studies he applied Spatio-Temporal DSP techniques to the real-time detection of specific (abnormal) features in multi-channel Electroencephalogram (EEG) Data.
He likes DSP in general, but the areas of Spatio-Temporal DSP, Adaptive DSP, Biomedical Signal Processing and Real-Time DSP Implementations seem to be his favorites.
He enjoy "Classic" Rock Music (60's, 70's, early 80's) very much. He particularly hold The Beatles , Queen and Elton John in high esteem. (he also like the "true classical music"...)
