  • Dr. Deana Goldin, is a practicing Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner, and a Clinical Associate Professor at the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She is the founder of Pinecrest Psychiatry in Miami, Florida and a leader in raising awareness and educating clinicians and students on the critical need to identify, manage, and appropriately treat mental health disorders in primary care settings.

    Dr. Goldin has a broad background in healthcare with specific training in family practice and mental health across the lifespan and works with diverse populations. Her practice experiences led to her observations that numerous clinical problems she encountered had significant psychological components that primary care clinicians were generally ill-equipped to address. Through her assessments, she has become an advocate raising awareness and educating clinicians on the critical need to identify, manage, and appropriately recognize mental health disorders in primary care settings. She has published articles on uncommon and subtle psychiatric conditions that could easily be overlooked in primary care settings.

    In addition, Dr. Goldin is a Clinical Medical Director for Medfast, Special Olympics, an international organization created to offer the physical exam that athletes need prior to participating in Special Olympics sports programming, and a member of the #SameHere Psych Alliance, a globally recognized organization that brings together athletes, celebrities, and expert practitioners to focus on education and prevention/intervention programs customized for students of all ages, corporate office employees, and veterans.

    Dr. Goldin also serves on the Board of Directors and the executive committee for Le Jardin Community Center, Inc., an Early Head Start program committed to providing high-quality comprehensive services to the most vulnerable children and families including homeless children, children in extreme poverty, children in foster care, and/or children who have experienced trauma.

    She has a PhD in Nursing Education (Nova Southeastern University), a Doctor of Nursing Practice and Family Nurse Practitioner degree (University of Miami), a Post-Master’s degree in Psychiatric Mental Health from Johns Hopkins University and is a fellow of the Integrative Psychiatry Institute, Boulder, Colorado.

    Her Professional Affiliations include: Fellow of the Integrative Psychiatry Institute, Boulder, Colorado, member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, member of the Florida Nurses Association / American Nurses Association, and board member for The Nurse Practitioner Council of Miami Dade.
