biography

  • Wei Wang received her B.S. degree in Mathematics from University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, in 2004. In 2008 she received her Ph.D. from Division of Applied Mathematics of Brown University with Prof. Chi-Wang Shu as her thesis advisor. She then spent two years at Center for Turbulence Research at Stanford University as a postdoctoral fellow. She has been with Department of Mathematics & Statistics, Florida International University as an Assistant Professor (2010-15) and Associate Professor (2015-now).

research interests

  • Numerical analysis for partial differential equations, scientific computing
    High order numerical methods for conservation laws, especially discontinuous Galerkin method, WENO method and spectral methods
    Computational fluid dynamics, reacting flows, turbulence and shock waves
    Multiscale discontinuous Galerkin methods for quantum semiconductor device simulations, solid mechanics
