Presently, I am working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, Florida International University (FIU), Miami, USA, and my research interest is in exploring biopolymeric nanogels for drug delivery to prevent various infectious diseases. I possess more than 10 years’ research experience in synthesis, characterization, and biological application of nanoparticles and nano/micro hydrogels as drug delivery systems. More specifically, my research interest broadly lies in synthesizing novel biomaterials, nanocomposite hydrogels, and nanogels utilizing the green route of synthesis. I am involved in utilizing biopolymers to develop biodegradable and biocompatible hydrogel systems for therapeutics and imaging applications. I have broadened my research expertise to biopolymeric nanogels for cancer theranostics. Recently, I was awarded 1R03AG087475-01 from the National Institute of Aging, NIH, on the topic Development of Biotherapeutic Nanogels for Alzheimer’s Disease Treatment.
