  • Dr. Zhou’s research centers on narrative persuasion within health contexts, and her current and future projects evolve along three main directions: the persuasive effects of narratives in traditional text-based health messages, the integration of narrative persuasion with digital interactivity and the use of interactive narratives in health games, and the study of narratives as both a format of misinformation and a strategy for correction. Dr. Zhou has published in Health Communication, Journal of Health Communication, and other peer-reviewed journals in the field. She has presented her work at the annual conferences of the National Communication Association and the International Communication Association over the years. She teaches courses in Persuasion, Communication Theory, Interpersonal Communication, and graduate-level Communication Theory.
