biography

  • Dr. Hilary Landorf is the Assistant Vice President of Global Learning Initiatives at Florida International University (FIU), where she oversees FIU’s university-wide initiative, Global Learning for Global Citizenship, recipient of NAFSA's 2021 Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization. She is also an Associate Professor of International and Intercultural Education in the School of Education and Human Development. In 2022, she was awarded NAFSA’s Award for Leadership and Collaboration in International Education. She is a Fulbright Specialist (2022-2026), a Fulbright Fellow (2021) in the International Education Administrators Program in France, an inaugural member of the National Academy of International Education, and a Senior Scholar with the Association of American Colleges & Universities’ Office of Global Citizenship for Campus, Community, and Careers.

research interests

  • Dr. Landorf's expertise centers on visioning, developing, designing, and implementing the policies and practices of global learning efforts in higher education. She has written, consulted, and presented internationally on integrating global learning into higher education. Her recent publications include "Making emaning of community in international education" in NAFSA's Recentering, reprioritizing, and reeingaging a sense of community within international education: Global Studies Literature Review; "What we mean by 'Global Learning': An updated definition in Liberal Education; and "The importance of John Dewey in global learning processes, practice, and purpose" in Social Studies Research and Practice.

    Her most recent book is, "Making Global Learning Universal: Promoting Inclusion and Success for All Students," co-published in 2018 by Stylus Press and NAFSA: International Educators.
