biography

  • Dr. Courtney Wilson began his career working in the mental health field in New York City, supporting patients with comorbid mental health disabilities. After completing his master’s in social work at Touro College in New York City, he began to focus on education and academic outcomes for minoritized youth. Dr. Wilson has worked with marginalized high school groups and provided guidance to overcoming societal barriers in education, allowing for inclusion in higher education institutions not previously thought attainable. Over the years, he has developed a special interest in working with at-risk populations, communities, educational institutions, and city council members in efforts to increase interconnectedness, civic engagement, and opportunities available to marginalized groups. His current research focuses on the incorporation of geographic information systems in understanding social and economic barriers to academic success for marginalized groups.
