biography

  • Dr. Maria De Los Santos is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Undergraduate Nursing for the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

    As an experienced researcher, Dr. De Los Santos has served as manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Interprofessional Care and Teaching and Learning in Medicine.

    Sher has served as Co-Investigator on multiple grants funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the FIU Wertheim Endowed Innovation Fund.

    She is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and Committee Member for the Annual Interprofessional Workshop with FIU College of Medicine, Social Work, Speech Language Pathology, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy.

    Her research focused on nursing clinical care and education have been published in the Journal of Interprofessional Care, American Journal of Nursing, and International Journal of Nursing and Clinical Practices.

    Dr. De Los Santos is a member of the Editorial Board Committee for the International Journal of Nursing and Clinical Practices where she provides guidance for the International peer-reviewed journal devoted to all major fields in nursing and clinical practices.

    A life long learner, Dr. De Los Santos is a triple FIU alumni having received her Bachelor of Nursing in 1987, her Master of Public Health in 1989, and her Master of Nursing specializing in Psychiatric Nursing in 1995. In 2010, she received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the university of Iowa and in 2018 her PhD in Nursing from Florida Atlantic University.
