abstract

  • Model tests at 1:20 scale on two maintenance facilities and one station are described. All salient features of the ventilation systems and locomotive engine and cooling air flows were modelled. A combination of smoke flow visualization and tracer gas techniques was used to develop effective ventilation systems. Both mechanical and gravity ventilation schemes were examined.
