  • In this paper we described a data structure suitable for three dimensional images. The basic property of this data structure is that it is translation invariant and can be tailored in such a way that it can have most of the desired properties required for binary image representation. The optimality of performance of this data structure over the conventional oct-trees for 3-D images has been investigated. © 1988.
