abstract

  • A discrete stochastic computer simulation model for the hydrodynamic shearing of DNA is presented. In this model the event space consists of a number of positions at which the DNA strand may break. The position of the break is chosen using a Gaussian distribution about the median of the strand length. A Bernoulli trial is generated to determine event occurrence. Various functions of strand length constitute different models for the probability of event occurrence.
