Building on insights from the recent literature in strategic management, I hypothesize a negative relationship between institutional investors' investment horizon and financial restatement likelihood. Results from a multi-year sample of 182 firms from Fortune 1000 firms provide empirical support for this prediction. CEO duality and outside director compensation structure do not moderate this relationship.
