In the present scenario, electric vehicles with good performance, price reductions, and, most importantly, environmental friendliness attract a wide number of customers in the automobile industry. Electric vehicles are divided into three parts, such as battery electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, and fuel cell-based electric vehicles. These electric vehicles are a good substitute for internal combustion engine-based vehicles. However, industries are still trying to enhance the performance of electric vehicles by using high capacity, durable, and cheaper energy storage devices and electric motors. In this chapter, we discussed the concept of electric vehicles, in which battery-based and hybrid electric vehicles are described. The implications of hybrid energy storage devices are also discussed with future outlook in this chapter.
