abstract

  • A low-profile planar ultra-wideband dual-polarized transmitarray based on tightly coupled dipole (TCDA) elements is presented. The unit-cell structure adopts a lattice configuration originally proposed for reflectarray applications which is properly modified, in this work, for transmitarray use. The configuration uses orthogonal tightly coupled dipoles connected with true-time-delay (TTD) lines. The TTD lines, placed between conductive planes, are connected through through-hole plated vias, enabling independent phase control for two linear polarizations within a 12-layer planar structure. The proposed TCDA unit cell provides stable transmission magnitude and a continuous 360° transmission phase range over a 5:1 bandwidth (3-15 GHz).
