abstract

  • This work presents an elegant technique for designing wideband transmitarray antennas (TAs) operating in the millimeter-wave (mmWave) spectrum. The proposed approach leverages our recently introduced Frequency Pulling Technique (FPT) to enhance the bandwidth of TAs. A carefully designed feeding network is integrated with both the transmitting and receiving patches of each unit cell to optimize their performance. Using a traditional single-fed microstrip patch element, we demonstrate the effectiveness of this technique by (a) achieving a 16% fractional bandwidth while maintaining a full 360° phase range and (b) maintaining a good performance across the entire operational bandwidth. The proposed TA operates at 31.5 Ghz, and exhibits enhanced bandwidth and efficiency, making it highly suitable for next-generation communication systems.
