High cross-polarization levels in Vivaldi arrays during scanning in non-principal planes is a well-known issue, primarily attributed to their inherently high profile. This is particularly challenging because their high profile is directly tied to their operational bandwidth: the taller the profile, the wider the bandwidth. In this work, we demonstrate that it is possible to design Vivaldi arrays with a reduced profile and improved cross-polarization performance without compromising operational bandwidth. By leveraging our previously established frequency pulling technique to enhance antenna bandwidth, we design a Vivaldi antenna with a profile reduced by more than 40% compared to the original. Specifically, we create a Vivaldi array with an improved cross-polarization level of 30%, while maintaining the same operational bandwidth and scanning capability as its conventional counterpart. Notably, these enhancements are achieved without significantly affecting the excellent impedance match and radiation efficiency of the original Vivaldi design.
