As wireless communication demand surges, spectrum congestion becomes a critical challenge, necessitating efficient spectrum management for reliable, high-speed connectivity. Sensing-aided communication is expected to play a pivotal role in 6G and beyond, with Radio Environment Maps (REM) emerging as a key enabler. REM provides a dynamic, real-time database that captures spectrum availability, usage patterns, and interference, allowing base stations (BS) to intelligently allocate resources, optimize frequency reuse, and minimize interference. By integrating REM into network operations, future wireless systems can achieve enhanced spectrum efficiency, improved Quality of Service (QoS), and seamless coexistence of diverse communication technologies.
