For the Fall 2022 semester, in partnership with the Maurice A. Ferre Institute for Civic Leadership and Fundacao Getulio Vargas
FGV & FIU will compare and contrast individual briefs in teams (2-3 students) and develop a new policy brief with an infographic to address SDG #3 or #11 (Healthy and sustainable cities). This integrative seminar is designed to allow students to address and solve real-world problems related to public policy and service. FIU Students will work independently & with Fundacao Getulio Vargas (FGV) students to address a current issue affecting a specific community.
This course incorporates Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) https://goglobal.fiu.edu/students/medallion/index.html which uses technology and the Internet to bring diverse faculty and students together—across borders of time, space, language, culture, and discipline—to engage in intercultural dialogue and meaningful projects. Since COIL is embedded within the curriculum, participating students can access the world and its diversity without incurring additional costs.
