abstract

  • In this work, a novel single-sourced with reduced device count switched capacitor multi-level inverter (SCMLI) is presented. The proposed topology is implemented using the novel integrated SHM-NLC control for generating the 13-level inverter output voltage. This control scheme utilizes the advantages of both selective harmonic mitigation (SHM) and nearest level control (NLC) as it is easier to implement than the conventional SHM easy to mitigate the lower order harmonic content, thus making it suitable for standalone as well as grid connection. The proposed control scheme is also capable of maintaining the capacitors' voltages as their desired voltages without any close loop. Using the proposed SHM-NLC control technique, the simulation results of presented SCMLI are presented for constant load conditions as well as for the dynamic load conditions under MATLAB/Simulink 2022b environment. The proposed topology is also validated by hardware implementation in laboratory condition. Finally, the power loss analysis is done, and efficiency is found to be 94.27%.
