This longitudinal study examined the role of procedural justice climate in mediating the influence of contingent reward transactional (CRT) leadership on follower satisfaction with supervisor, organizational commitment, and rated organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Results showed that procedural justice climate fully mediated the relationships between CRT leadership and follower work-related attitudes, and partially the relationship between CRT leadership and OCB. Overall, this study broadened our understanding by identifying the process by which CRT leadership may promote positive work-related attitudes and behaviors such as satisfaction with supervisor, organizational commitment, and OCB. Implications for research and practice of our findings are discussed.
