abstract

  • A tightly coupled Vivaldi array (TCVA) with increased bandwidth is introduced. Notably, this is acomplished by applying the frequency pulling technique (FPT). FPT, a new method that uses the insertion loss design methodology of bandpass filters to increase the bandwidth of antennas. Here, FPT is used to more than double the bandwidth of an infinite TCVA compared to the one of a traditional TCVA with the same profile. Infinite array simulations are performed for the proposed and traditional TCVAs, their bandwidth is calculated as 16.32:1 and 7.84:1, respectively (for a VSWR < 2.3).
