A highly efficient dual-band radiating element design is presented for reconfigurable reflectarray (RRA) applications. Namely, a properly designed planar inverted F antenna (PIFA) is thoroughly designed for operation at the 20/30 GHz band communications satellite links. Notably, our linearly polarized element exhibits high polarization purity that is in the order of -20 dB, and very low transmission losses in the order of 0.15 dB. This element is the first step towards realizing dual-band RRAs that are simple, low-cost, and efficient. Such RRAs are urgently needed in MIMO, 5G/6G, wireless links, and satellite communications systems.
