abstract

  • A novel antenna element is introduced that is suitable for high frequency (HF) applications. Namely, we propose a high frequency magnetoelectric dipole (HFMD) antenna with superior electromagnetic characteristics compared to state-of-the-art HF antennas. Notably, the proposed design is inspired by the traditional magnetoelectric dipole (MED) antenna and is properly modified to satisfy all the stringent HF electromagnetic and mechanical requirements of wide bandwidth, high efficiency, and low design complexity. Full-wave simulations are conducted demonstrating a bandwidth of 45%, which is almost two times greater than the BW of traditional HF monopole antennas.
