abstract
Effect of position and flow waveform on the fluid mechanics of a stenosed human right coronary artery was discussed. The geometry was accurately reconstructed in three dimensions (3D) using a fusion procedure between intravascular ultrasound and biplane x-ray angiography. The imaging was performed on an actual patient suffering from a stenosed right coronary vessel. It was observed that the shear stress distribution around the stenosis changes significantly with respect to the position of the artery in the cardiac cycle.
