abstract

  • This study examined seventh grade students' conceptions of thirty-one science, technology and society (STS) issues. Ten male subjects and fourteen female subjects participated in this exploratory study. The results of the study show that both male and female subjects at this grade level have developed clear conceptions of STS issues which are relevant to them personally. Students at this grade level, however, had not developed clear conceptions of broader environmental issues. Implications of the findings are discussed. © 1995 Springer Netherlands.
