Some of the several possible configurations of the Cromemco System Three® microprocessor-based computer are described, with emphasis on its use in real-time data acquisition. System software and firmware are described, and examples of applications programs in different languages are provided. Compatibility, and the lack of it, with other 'standard' S-100® and CP/M® systems is briefly considered, as are other applications of Cromemco hardware and software packages.
