In this paper we will present some hybrid methodologies applied to optimization of complex systems. The paper is divided in two parts. The first part presents several automatic switching concepts among constituent optimizers in hybrid optimization, where different heuristic and deterministic techniques are combined to speed up the optimization task. In the second part, several high dimensional response surface generation algorithms are presented, where some very basic hybridization concepts are introduced.
