abstract

  • The resonant four wave mixing (FWM) in cold Rb atoms and the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) were investigated. It was observed that EIT enhancement of the nonlinear susceptibilities and suppression of the linear susceptibility effected efficient nondegenerate FWM at slow light conditions. The probe light and the generated signal light were found to be propagating at slow group velocities. The study helps to explore applications of FWM in the generation of photon correlation and quantum entanglement.
