abstract

  • We examined gender differences in five different types of clerical work sample exercises. Our results indicated that, overall, gender differences were minimal. However, there was substantial variability in gender differences across work sample exercises such that the magnitude and direction of gender differences depended on the constructs that each assessed. Gender differences favored females on tests that involved typing skills and verbal comprehension, while gender differences favored males on tests that involved spatial abilities. We found mixed support for the notion that males would outperform females on work sample assessments of technical skills. © 2014 Colegio Oficial de Psicólogos de Madrid.
