biography

  • Marcie Washington holds a BA in Political Science from College of Charleston and a MA in International Affairs from Florida State University. She recieved her Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from Nova Southeastern University. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on a range of topics including security studies, conflict and cooperation, negotiation, and the politics of immigration. She specializes in peace and conflict and studies, transnational security threats, and displaced persons and refugee studies, with a particular focus on the manner in which refugees and internally displaced persons influence civil war onset and international, domestic, and regional politics. She delves into the nuances of conflict and cooperation and the social, political, economic vulnerabilities of disaster risk and resilience. She is the co-principal investiagor for the Mellon grant-funded, local-to-global Commons for Justice Race, Risk, and Resilience project.
