biography

  • I've received individual artist grants from the Kentucky Arts Council and the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund for creative nonfiction, the Colgate University Press Nonfiction Book Award, the Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Memoir, and the Housatonic Nonfiction Book Prize. My poetry collections have won the Marie Alexander Poetry Series and the AROHO/To the Lighthouse Poetry Prize. At FIU, I've received several CASE awards for research and teaching and the Faculty Award for Excellence in Research and Teaching Activities presented at Convocation 2019.
