In 2020, Nick received the FIU Faculty Award for Excellence in Gateway Teaching. He has also received FIU CASE awards for teaching and community engagement, and has twice served as a fellow with FIU's Center for the Advancement of Teaching. Course highlights include Rhetoric of Food, Mindful Writing, a first-year writing course themed around research on personal growth, and intro to creative writing courses offered in South Florida prisons via the non-profit organization Exchange for Change.
