Dr. Thompson is author of the books, "Time in Natural Language: Syntactic Interfaces with Semantics and Discourse", and “An Introduction to the Study of Language”. Her research publications include thirty peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Linguistic Inquiry and Natural Language and Linguistic Theory. In her current research, she investigates the attitudes of multilingual university students toward African-American English Vernacular.
Dr. Thompson is Professor of Linguistics in the English Department. Her main research areas are Syntactic Theory, Psycholinguistics, and Heritage Languages. She interested in investigating issues of linguistic theory through psycholinguistic methods, and in utilizing under-studied languages in order to contribute to our understanding of language processing and language variation.
