He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in English from the University of Texas at Austin and his B.A. from Temple University. Before coming to FIU in 2007, he also taught at the University of Miami. His current book project, The Literacy Affect: Philip Sidney and Early Modern Education, examines the psychology of literacy within the context of the sixteenth century's new media transition from script to print, with special focus on the English courtier and poet Philip Sidney. His articles appear in Studies in English Literature and The Sidney Journal, and he is a co-author of the textbook Composing Inquiry. Dr. Strycharski currently serves on the Council of the International Sidney Society. He has won research funding from the Folger Institute, the FIU College of Arts and Sciences, and the University of Texas at Austin Graduate School.
