Professor Rowan specializes in the social and cultural history of Modern Britain. He teaches survey courses on Modern Europe and U.S. History, in addition to upper-division courses in Modern British and European History.
research interests
Dr. Rowan’s research interests include the formation of business cultures, paternalism, and collective identities in Britain. He is currently working on a manuscript regarding the construction of corporate culture and national identity at Lever Brothers, the multinational firm, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He is also interested in History Pedagogy as well as online teaching.
