Rakesh R. Nair has over 8 years of experience within the public health research and clinical practice and is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). He is actively involved in teaching both basic science and clinical medicine with FIU HWCOM. Dr. Nair’s recent project includes the development of a clinical anatomy module using BodyViz 3D anatomy software to mentor and educate medical students on BodyViz surgical cadaver dissections.
Dr. Nair authored a medical book & co-authored in various articles on arteriovenous fistula published in the Journal of Vascular Access.
research interests
Dr. Nair is interested in integration of clinical medicine to basic science. He is the course director for Period 1 & Period 4 Anatomy Course, where he integrates the clinical anatomy to basic anatomy. He is actively involved in innovative methods in medical education, such as teaching pedagogies, curricula design and assessment. He incorporates case-based learning, problem-based learning, team-teaching, and flipped classroom pedagogies to enhance the application of knowledge and engagement of students. Additionally, he has created educational tools using Complete Anatomy and BodyViz software application to enhance students learning.
