  • Gabriel Mayora, PhD, is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Center of Women's & Gender Studies and the Department of English at Florida International University. He has a PhD in English from the University of Florida. As a gay Venezuelan-born scholar, Dr. Mayora's research focuses on queer Latinx strategies of resistance and survival. His most recent article “Nobody’s Trash: Holly Woodlawn’s Puerto Rican Drag and the Subversion of Authorship” appears in the 2021 edited volume Drag in a Changing Scene: Drag Histories, Herstories, and Hairstories.
