biography

  • I’m the newly appointed Dean of University Libraries at Florida International University in Miami. I joined FIU after nearly five years as the Executive Director and CEO of OhioNet, a multitype library consortium representing a diverse membership throughout Ohio and the region. I practiced non-profit law and advocacy before entering the library space, where I have over 15 years of experience. An ALA Spectrum Scholar, I hold an MS in Library and Information Science from the iSchool (formerly GSLIS) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a JD from the School of Law at the University of Richmond, and a BA in Journalism from Drake University.

I am passionate about leading with intention and creating organizations where people can thrive. I am certified in Human Centered Design and Creating Workplace Wellbeing and have recently completed coursework for certification as a Facilitator in Appreciative Inquiry and Conversations Worth Having. I am interested in applying these concepts to work in libraries and higher education. I also enjoy writing, and you can find my most recent work in a series of short pieces on the OhioNet blog called the Director's Desk (https://www.ohionet.org/blog/category/directors-desk).
