biography

  • Dr. Kang has published in top-ranked business research journals such as Journal of Financial Economics (3), Management Science (2), Journal of Accounting Research (1), Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis (1), and Review of Finance (1) as well as a few highly-regarded journals. He has been an ad-hoc reviewer for more than twenty academic journals and a regular external reviewer for the Hong Kong Research Grant Council’s annual competitive award. His paper’s findings have been cited and summarized in textbooks, PhD lecture note, and practitioners' journals. Based on “The Remarkable Growth in Financial Economics, 1974-2020” (Schwert, 2020, Table 5A): he is on the top quartile among all the authors who have ever published at Journal of Financial Economics, a Top-3 Finance journal.

    He has presented at numerous academic conferences and meetings such as those hosted by the American Finance Association, Financial Management Association, China International Center in Finance and Asian Finance Association. Two of his papers have won the Best Paper Award in two international finance conferences (2008 Asian Finance Association/Nippon Finance Association International Conference & 2012 National Taiwan University International Conference on Finance), and three of his papers were a semifinalist for the Financial Management Association Conferences’ Best-Paper Award.
