Nathaniel Cadle is the author of The Mediating Nation: Late American Realism, Globalization, and the Progressive State (UNC Press, 2014), winner of the 2015 SAMLA Studies Book Award. His recent publications appear in the journals American Literary History, The Mark Twain Annual, and the Journal of Beat Studies (forthcoming) and in the collected editions The Oxford Handbook of American Literary Realism, Modernist Women Writers and American Social Engagement, and The Cambridge History of American Modernist Literature (forthcoming). His current research has been funded an Award for Faculty from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Nathaniel Cadle studies, teaches, and writes about late nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century American literature. His research focuses on literary realism, literary modernism, and print and material culture.
