Charles P. Buscemi, PhD, APRN, FNP-BC, CWCN, WOCNF, is a Clinical Professor at the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Florida International University. A board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and wound care specialist, Dr. Buscemi has extensive clinical and academic experience in family health, advanced practice nursing, and wound management. He also serves as Clinician Emeritus with the Wound Technology Network following nearly two decades of clinical practice in advanced wound care. Dr. Buscemi has held numerous academic leadership roles at FIU, including Interim Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program and Assistant Chair for Graduate Nursing and most recently, Nursing Education Program Leader. His teaching spans undergraduate, masterâs, and doctoral nursing programs, with courses focused on advanced clinical practice, evidence-based practice, translational research, and healthcare policy. An active scholar, Dr. Buscemiâs work focuses on wound care, cultural competence, and advanced practice nursing. His research and scholarly publications have appeared in journals such as the Journal of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing, Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Journal of Transcultural Nursing, and American Journal of Alzheimerâs Disease and Other Dementias. He has presented nationally and internationally on topics including wound care innovation, nursing education, cultural competency, and advanced practice nursing. Dr. Buscemi serves on the editorial boards of several professional journals and contributes to the advancement of nursing scholarship through peer review and editorial leadership. His professional contributions have been recognized with numerous honors, including induction as a Fellow of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society and the Florida Nurses Associationâs Award for Innovative APRN Practice. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing, and Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science from the University of Miami.
