Dr. Woubet G. Alemu, is a distinguished Postdoctoral Scholar (Postdoctoral Associate) at the Department of Earth and Environment, College of Arts, Sciences and Education, Florida International University; Associate Degree in 1998 in Geography from Bahir Dar University (1998); a Bachelor degree in Geography and Environmental Studies at Addis Ababa University (2004); Masters degrees in Remote Sensing and GIS at Addis Ababa University (2007), and in Land Resources Management at Bahir Dar University (2011); and a Ph.D. in Geospatial Science and Engineering (specialization in Remote Sensing Geography) at South Dakota State University (2017). Dr. Alemu started his professional career at the University of Gondar, Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, in 2004 as a Graduate Assistant and worked through a lecturer position. He joined Bahir Dar University in 2009 as a lecturer. He then joined the Geospatial Sciences Center of Excellence, South Dakota State University as a graduate assistant in 2011. After his Ph.D. graduation in 2017, Dr. Alemu continued his research works in South Dakota State University as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Finally, he joined Florida International University in mid-2018 as a Distinguished Postdoctoral Scholar/ Postdoctoral Associate.
His research interests include: Remote Sensing, Geographic Information Systems/Science, Geospatial Sciences, Geography, Land Surface Phenology, Land use/Land cover change, Natural Resources Management, Climate.
