biography

  • I am a PhD-level scientist in the field of Oncology with over 10 years of international experience in biomedical/basic research with strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology and cellular biology.

I am keenly interested and highly motivated in the study of the molecular mechanisms underlying the development, recurrence and therapy resistance of brain tumors, specifically Glioblastoma. Understanding the mechanisms that regulate the cancer stem-like cell population survival and resistance is crucial in the development of novel effective therapies for the treatment of Glioblastoma.

    Areas of expertise include:

-Knowledge of translational research and drug development.
-Strong record of interacting with both industrial and academic scientists through collaborative agreements and grants.
-Creative, highly motivated and intuitive problem solver with excellent organizational, teamwork, and management skills developed through previous position in industry, bench work and administrative duties.
-Ability to work in deadline-driven environments with experience in writing papers, projects and grants.
-Great interpersonal skills that have led to successful organization of international scientific events, as well as to help establish and maintain fruitful collaboration with other scientists.
-Excellent communication skills developed by the preparation and presentation of courses and projects to specialized international audiences, in addition to training undergraduate and graduate students.
-Understanding of inventory and logistics management, including budget preparation and oversight.
    -Fluent in English and Spanish.
