biography

  • Dr. Alma Abdel-Moty is a Clinical Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy at the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences. During her tenure, Dr. Abdel Moty has taught numerous courses in occupational therapy at Florida International University and the University of Miami and dedicated her services as an experience occupational therapist in the greater Miami area.

    Dr. Abdel-Moty is a nationally and internationally recognized occupations therapist with numerous publications in prestigious journals and books. Her work has been published in the Journal of Occupational Therapy, the Journal of Advance for Occupational Therapy Practitioners, and in the American Occupational Therapy Association Education Special Interest Section Newsletter.

    Her research has been presented at multiple international conferences including Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.

    Dr. Abdel Moty has received numerous awards and recognitions including the 2008 FIU Excellence in Teaching, the 2019 American Occupational Therapy Association Recognition of Achievement Award for Globalization of Occupational Therapy Fieldwork, and the 2016 American Occupational Therapy Association Service Commendation Award.

    Dr. Abdel-Moty received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy at the University of Puerto Rico, her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Florida International University, and her Doctor of Occupational Therapy from Nova Southeastern University.
