abstract

  • A new analytical model promises to simulate the cutting forces in micro-end-milling operations. Tool condition is monitored by estimating the parameters of the introduced analytical model by using genetic algorithms. The proposed first-generation Genetic Tool Monitor (GTM1) converged very quickly and estimated the Cutting Force Coefficients of each cutting edge accurately. The tool condition can be estimated directly from the value of the Cutting Force Coefficients.
