abstract

  • In this paper we develop numerical solutions to the transport of sediment over a single swash event due the collapse of an incident uniform bore on a planar beach. The initial configuration employed for the uniform bore is the same as that used by Hibberd and Peregrine (1979). Following Pritchard and Hogg (2005) the model presented is uncoupled; i.e. the hydro- and morphodynamics are divorced so that predictions of beach change are only made at the end of a swash cycle. Predictions thus made are compared with those due to hydrodynamical forcing governed by the Shen and Meyer (1963) flow field using the framework given in Pritchard and Hogg (2005). © 2009 World Scientific Publishing Co.
