Acute Bronchiolitis, one of the commonest causes of hospitalization among infants, is characterized by acute inflammation of peripheral airways, presenting clinically with acute wheeze and respiratory symptoms. Though, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is the commonest causative agent of Acute Bronchiolitis, it is often associated with other nonviral and other viral agents, notably Human Meta-pneumovirus. This article reviews the epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, clinical features and current management guidelines of Acute Bronchiolitis, specifically focusing on RSV infection.
