abstract

  • LuxMea was a design studio pioneering in computational design and additive manufacturing, which has demonstrated its innovative manufacturing capabilities in various use cases ranging from manufacturing of composite material components, 3D-printed furniture and architectural features, apparel such as eye-glass frames made of advanced composite materials, and jewelry. The founder, Jean Young, was determined to bring innovation to the construction industry by using 3D-printing to significantly improve construction workflows, timelines, and costs. She decided to develop an affordable housing project in the city of Methuen, MA, using 3D-printing technology to showcase LuxMea's revolutionary potential. However, she was now facing the challenge of engaging with potential industry partners, generating buy-in from various stakeholders, and obtaining funding. Will her strong quantitative background and her design studio's impressive technical achievements be sufficient to convince various stakeholders to support LuxMea in its journey to revolutionize the construction industry?.
