abstract

  • This chapter argues for the indispensability of Black feminist frameworks to research and intervention design in Black maternal health and health equity. Through a close analysis of the work of the Black Mothers Care Plan, an initiative of the Center for Women's and Gender Studies at Florida International University in Miami, the chapter illustrates how Black feminist theory serves as a guide for equitable and impactful community partnerships in Black maternal health research and practice. Black feminist scholarship is inherently change-oriented and defies separation into academic and community-rooted as distinct spheres.
